Cook/Chef

Job Summary

We need an enthusiastic chef who has skills and passion for big flavors with attention to detail. We are looking for a professional cook to prepare food to our guests. Your duties will consist of prepping, cooking and preparing plated meals. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our guests experience. If your ambitious, love what you do, want to work in the remote wilderness, and have the skills to back it up you are the person we are looking for.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Clean and maintain kitchen in practicing good safety and sanitation
  • Clean up kitchen and take care of leftover food
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests
  • Maintain consistency of product with great attention to food quality, taste and presentation
  • Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action for the kitchen at any given point in time
  • Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure
  • Must be comfortable with cooking in an open kitchen with guests visiting
  • Must be comfortable improvising menus should the need arise

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in culinary skills
  • Must be able to speak and communicate in English in front of and with all lodge guests
  • Lifting and carrying at least 40 lbs
  • Withstand frequent up-an-down/twisting/repetitive movements
  • Requires exposure to machines, heat, steam, foodstuffs, cleaning chemicals and solvents
  • Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for food preparation
  • Must be able to operate simple to complex kitchen equipment
  • Must be Canadian Citizen or have immediate authorization to work in Canada
  • Must be able to pass background check

Be prepared to work 7 days per week (Many half days off for personal time)

Applicant must be available for the entire season from approximately mid-May to mid-August

Salary: $2,800.00 to $3,000.00 per month plus gratuities and $400.00 per month bonus
Compensation includes room and board with salary.
